Event Description
In the early twentieth century, Santa Cruzans made environmental history by leading California in the effort to save the redwood forest and create Big Basin Redwoods State Park. What was their unique vision and how did women journalists inspire the enduring environmental movement? 97% of the park was impacted or burned in the 2020 CZU fire, yet most of the coast redwoods survived. The expert panel will discuss forest sustainability, new Park programs and expanding access. See riveting post fire videos by the Mountain Parks Foundation and Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks. All activities are in the Garden Room of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (705 Front St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060) on April 22, 1 to 6 pm Pacific time. Admission is free to all attendees! No RSVP or registration needed. The event space can fit 90 people. Admission will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
