Event Description
Join Ph.D. candidate Michael Belding as he introduces audiences to two historical tour guides, the native prairie chicken and the invasive house sparrow. These birds highlight agricultural and environmental changes in Iowa from about 1855 to 1885, revealing some of farmers' most significant changes to the landscape, their attitudes toward native plant and animal life, and their ideas about which animals were best for livestock raising and why.
