Dear ASEH Member,
The time has come to update ASEH’s bylaws, and your comments are invited. There are two ways to participate: by filling out this THIS SURVEY by January 31, 2026 and/or attending a feedback session on January 28, 3:30-4:30 US Eastern Time.
You will need to register for the feedback session in order to receive the zoom link.
Over the past decade, ASEH has grown as an organization, made the executive director a full-time position, and expanded our online activities and programming. During that time, there have been several updates to the bylaws, but they haven’t kept pace with the scope and activities of the organization.
This fall, a Council subcommittee reviewed the bylaws, drafted changes, and solicited initial feedback on the revisions from the ASEH Council.
The next step is to share the draft revisions with you, the ASEH membership, for feedback. Based on that feedback, the bylaw subcommittee will make further revisions before formally submitting the bylaws to the ASEH Secretary. Per our current bylaws, the changes must be approved by a 2/3 vote of the ASEH Council and then approved by a 2/3 vote by the ASEH membership.
Below are links to three documents:
Document #1: Our current bylaws [link]
Document #2: A clean copy of the proposed revisions to the bylaws [link]
Document #3: A track changes version of the current bylaws that highlights the proposed changes and includes some explanatory comments for each article. [link]
We welcome your comments on the proposed revisions. Once you’ve had a chance to review the bylaws, please submit comments using this form (which will be open through January 31, 2026).
The bylaw subcommittee will also hold an ASEH Connects event for the purpose of answering questions and gathering input on Wednesday, January 28th from 330-430pm EST. Please Register in order to receive the zoom link.
In the meantime, if any specific questions arise, please direct them to Diana DiStefano, ASEH Executive Director, diana.distefano@aseh.org.
(Note, this is different from the strategic planning process, which we will also be seeking your input on this month. For information on both of these initiatives and their respective timelines, visit this page).
Thanks in advance for your help with this process.
